Online Marketing You Can Do In Under 1 Minute

Unless you’re in the marketing field for a living, you likely don’t have tons of free time to promote your business online. Each task in the list below can be accomplished in one minute or less but can add significant value to your online marketing efforts.

1. Grab Their Attention
According to Copy Blogger, 8 out of 10 people will read a headline, but only a fraction of that—2 out of 10 to be more specific—will read the remainder of the content. Your headline should be engaging enough that your audience wants to read more. Utilizing tools like Portent’s Content Idea Generator is an excellent way to generate attention-grabbing headlines. Just type in a few key words and voila, it generates a stimulating title that ensures your readers will look.

2. Get Your Own Post
Research shows that original posts garner far more interest than posts that are simply shared from another source. They are not only more likely to receive organic attention from your consumer, but to go viral as well. This doesn’t mean you have to generate your own articles and topics though (because that would take more than a minute.) If you see an interesting post on the Internet, simply use it as a starting point for your own. Of course, be sure to do this ethically, and feel free to give a shout-out to the author.

3. Recycle the Good Stuff
Consistency is key when it comes to blogging and social media. If you don’t have time to write something new, why not recycle a popular post from the past? Those who didn’t see it the first time will, and those who enjoyed it once already will be pleasantly surprised. This post will continue to accumulate social feedback that boosts your credibility and funnels traffic to your site. Plus, people prefer to comment on posts they can see have already generated buzz so they’ll be more likely to participate.

4. Be Trendy
You no longer have to guess or research for hours to find new and interesting topics for your posts. Reddit provides valuable info and links on what’s currently trending. Combine this with point #2 to create your own posts that are relevant and popular. Remember, don’t copy someone else’s article, but feel free to use it as research and inspiration for your own.

5. Act Now
Adding a call to action on a popular page or post can often provide instant gratification for your time. Log in to your Google Analytics account to monitor which content is receiving the most attention. Then simply add a call to action to this particular page and watch your feedback grow leaps and bounds. Check out the following article for tips on how to best utilize this tactic “The Definitive Guide to Crafting Winning Calls to Action in Your Content.”

6. Write Something
You may feel that a blog post isn’t worth writing if it’s not long and content rich. However, consistently generating fresh content, even if it’s short, is a great way to keep your online marketing relevant. Simply search for an image that inspires you, write a few sentences about what it means to you, and ask your viewers what they think.
Here’s how: Go to Google Image Search, and type in [your topic] quote (of course substituting ‘your topic’ with your topic!). As an example, I’ll type in ‘motivation quote’. I quickly spot a favorite quote, so I save it to my desktop, being careful to note where the image is from.

7. Sneak a Peek
Being in tune with your target market is hugely important to your company. Remember, your brand image is not what you say about you, it’s what other people are saying about you when you’re not in the room. To see what your consumers are talking about concerning your particular brand, log onto Social Mention and type in your information. Social Mention searches blogs, bookmarks, images, discussion boards, etc. to quickly give you a better idea of what people think about you. Remember to use quotation marks around phrases and multi-word names to ensure accuracy.
